Protect Your Peace

This Week’s Challenge: Protect Your Peace

Our peace can be easily disrupted by stress, pain, fear, emotional turmoil, anxiety, and relationship issues. If you are not truly intentional in guarding and protecting your peace, the noise of this world will take over and consume you. Protecting your peace is NOT selfish. Think of the stewardesses on airplanes explaining that you have to put your mask on before helping your child. This seems so counterintuitive, but if you don’t take care of yourself, you are no good to those you love. So how do you protect your peace? You first need to pay close attention to what drains you, upsets you, or leaves you emotionally depleted. Not everything that vies for your attention deserves it. Next, you need to remove yourself from those situations that tap your energy and suck the life out of you. You only have so much bandwidth, so make sure you are focusing on what energizes and uplifts you. What you spend your main focus on will shape your emotional state, so choose wisely.

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.”—Wayne Dyer
