Dr. Ph.D., LMFT, Ed.S. School Psychologist

Dr. Carla Ordonez is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist and School Psychologist. She moved to the Chicago area after completing her Psychology Licensure (1994) in Caracas, Venezuela, at the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello. Continuing her education, she earned her first Master’s (1998) in Marital and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Dr. Ordonez earned her second Master’s (2006) and Specialist Certificate (2008) in School Psychology from Capella University, with an additional bilingual endorsement from Dominican University. Recently, she completed her Doctorate (2019) in General Psychology with Emphasis on Cognition and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. She has over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families, in community settings as well as in residential facilities and private practice settings. Additionally, as a school psychologist, she has worked in the high school setting for the past 10 years, as well as completing psychoeducational evaluations for all grade levels.

Dr. Ordonez works with individuals, couples and families to better understand the systemic variables impacting their lives. With her knowledge of cognitive skills, executive functioning skills and emotional regulation, Dr. Ordonez applies cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches in a safe, compassionate environment to help her clients learn the strategies they need for reaching excellent results in life. She specializes in working with mood and anxiety disorders, attention/hyperactivity symptoms, learning difficulties, executive functioning skills deficits, multi-cultural adjustment issues, parenting difficulties, and marital/relationship difficulties. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
